Four Families is a folk music group that combines a heavy orchestral sound with a unique indie twist. Their indescribable ethereal music is a sound that resonates with each of their listeners. Members include: Robin Rütenberg on vocals, guitar, mandolin, and tambourine, Naarah Strokosch on cello and keys, Quinn Mellon on bass, and Summer Wood on drums.

They are one of three groups performing at The Cummer’s Garden Concert: A Night of Americana on June 28,2014 from 7-9 p.m. (doors at 6 p.m.). Bring a blanket, chairs, and your favorite foods and beverages (alcohol is permitted). Enjoy a picnic in The Cummer Gardens with a view of the St. Johns River, while listening to the sounds of some of the most talented musicians in Jacksonville! The cost is $20 for members, $25 for non-members, and $400 for a table of 10. If you don’t feel like packing a picnic, let The Café do all the work for you. Preorder your boxed dinner from The Café by calling 904.899.6022.

Shelton Hull, columnist for Arbus Magazine and Folio Weekly, says, “The sound of Four Families is at once classic and modern, soothing yet invigorating. The Florida quartet strikes a perfect sonic balance, with songwriting that puts their skills on full display.” They say that their music is inspired by themes of cultural tradition, social and historical observations, and human relationships. Their first EP, Sea Legs, was released in January of 2012 as “Robin Rütenberg & Friends” and they are currently recording their first full-length album.
