ART-OF-EMPATHY-Cover-low

Dr. David Areford is an Associate Professor of Art History at The University of Massachusetts Boston and is an expert on late-Medieval devotional art.  In celebration of the release of his new book and The Cummer’s exhibition of The Art of Empathy, please join us for a special lecture with him.  He will be discussing his examination of The Mother of Sorrows (c. 1470), a masterwork from The Cummer’s permanent collection, and it’s importance  in the early Renaissance in northern Europe.  Do not miss your chance to hear Dr. Areford speak, as he raises the question of the modern day relevance of this piece and discusses empathy as a defining characteristic of humanity.
