RECAP – Talks and Tea: Future Retro

Jul

Written by Kiani Ned, Marketing Intern                                     Talks and Tea 002

On Thursday, June 20th at 1:30pm the Cummer Museum continued its Talks and Tea Series with an enlightening and captivating conversation centering around our latest exhibit, Future Retro: The Great Age of the American Automobile. The talks portion of the event was led by Guest Curator, Staci Bu Shea. In the Stein Gallery, Bu Shea led the attendees of the Talk through her thought process in the creation and organizing of the show. After the lecture, Bu Shea invited the attendees to talk about their experiences with cars. They discussed their first cars, the trendiest cars from their youth, and even WWII and its effect on the car industry. When the discussion was over, everyone was invited to take another look at Future Retro which includes prints, drawing, cars, and videos.  The event ended in the Auditorium where a lovely array of tea and refreshments, prepared by the TreeCup Cafe, was served to those who attended. The discussion about the automobile and the car industry did not conclude, though. Those who attended the lecture were given Road Maps to discuss the exhibit, automobile, and its effect on society and the lives of people.
