On June 29th and again on July 27th, the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens will offer students age 7 to 13 the chance to design their own cars under the guidance of authentic automotive artist, Mike Viafora.

Mr. Viafora, a graduate of Jacksonville University and teacher in the Duval County Public School system has been passionate about automobiles for most of his life.  He has won awards for displays of his classic cars while his personal artwork hangs in the homes of collectors and car enthusiasts alike.

Under his instruction students will create their own car designs utilizing watercolor, tempera paint and colored pencils.  All supplies are included in the cost of the course and all students will come away from the class with two completed artworks.

After class students can choose to visit our exhibition Future Retro: The Great Age of the American Automobile.  The show presents a number of authentic car designs and concept art from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s as well as a number of designs that never made it into production.

Price for the class is $25 for museum members and $30 for non-members.

Class sizes are limited.  Please call 904.355.0630 to reserve your space.
