What’s Blooming? Torenia!

Dec

22

Torenia is an annual flower that thrives in shade and hot, humid weather making Florida an ideal home for it.   Also known as the “wishbone flower” Torenia resemble open-faced snapdragons with prominent markings on the petals.  They are predominantly blue in color but newer varieties of pink, rose, light blue and white also exist.  When looking for Torenia in the gardens at the Cummer, keep an eye out for compact mounds about a foot high with many branches and leaves that are oval or heart-shaped.
